Wymondham Community Outreach Project will receive funding from South Norfolk Council’s Community Action Fund. A panel of councillors met in October to allocate grants to projects that will enhance the lives of local people.

Chair of the panel, Cllr Kim Carsok, said: “These grants make a huge difference, supporting projects that bring people together and improve people’s quality of life. The grant can also be a catalyst for other funding streams.”

The Community Outreach Project, run by Arnie McConnell, will receive £5,269 to purchase additional equipment needed to help them run an effective foodbank and drop-in centre at their new location in the Abbey Hall. Cllr Kevin Hurn supported WCOP with the grant application, which will allow them to rebrand, create safe spaces where private interviews can be held, purchase stationery, install shelving, and buy IT equipment and a large freezer.
