On Saturday 11th June, Wymondham Baptist Church hosted an ‘eco’ event to highlight some of the great work going on in our community to care for our environment. Organised by the Eco Church Team at WBC, the event was well supported by local groups, who set up displays about their work.

We had colourful and informative displays from Greening Wymondham, Wymondham Nature Group, Wymondham in Bloom and Toad Watch, together with a stall run by Val Keel on recycling opportunities and a Food Savvy stand from Norfolk County Council, with ideas and recipes for reducing food waste.

As the weather was dry and warm, we were able to use the church garden for a Make a Bug Hotel activity and a Toad Racing game, coordinated by Ian Maunders and Georgette Vale respectively. The Women’s Institute (Wymondham Bridewell) also offered help in running a cake stall which together with plant, card and craft stalls helped towards raising funds which will be used for environmental projects in and from our church.

The whole event was well supported by our church and local communities and there was a real buzz and enthusiasm about the conversations as we all learned a bit more about how to look after the world around us.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this very successful event.
