South Norfolk’s past will come alive this September as part of England’s largest festival of history and culture. Wymondham Abbey Station is one of the featured sites. The event invites you to view historical memorabilia and enjoy talks on the region’s railway heritage.

Heritage Open Days, supported by South Norfolk Council, runs from September 12th to the 21st and offers residents and visitors the chance to explore the area’s rich history through a wide range of free activities, exhibitions and guided tours.

South Norfolk Council’s Chairwoman, Cllr Deborah Sacks, said:

“Heritage Open Days are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the rich history and vibrant culture of South Norfolk. It’s wonderful to see so many local groups, venues and volunteers getting involved. From hands-on workshops to fascinating tours, there’s something for everyone to enjoy – and it’s all free! We encourage residents and visitors alike to take part and discover the stories that make our communities so special.”

Many events are drop-in, requiring no booking, while others may need pre-registration due to limited capacity.

Heritage Open Days in South Norfolk promise a unique opportunity to celebrate local stories, people and places.
