By the time you read this, Wymondham Town Council will have submitted their planning application for the new allotments – with a decision from South Norfolk expected in October.
The application is the culmination of close collaboration between Wymondham Allotment Association and Wymondham Town Council. As part of the submission, a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessment have been completed. These assessments demonstrate the scheme’s commitment to protecting and enhancing the natural environment, improving biodiversity and supporting sustainable land management practices.
If planning permission is granted, the new site would provide more allotment plots than were available at the previous location, helping to meet growing demand and allowing more local residents to experience the many benefits of allotment gardening.
We’re hoping the new site will provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where residents can grow, learn, share knowledge and build stronger community connections for many years to come.
The planning application is supported by a comprehensive suite of documents, including the Association’s Biodiversity Policy and Plan and Planning Justification Statement. These reflect the Association’s ongoing commitment to sustainable land management, environmental stewardship and the long-term success of the site.
