What a fantastic Archery Club Wymondham has. With the pressure of growing fuel and food prices all seems a little dismal in and around us right now. A recent Radio 4 article suggested that the first thing to go from the ‘things I'd like to do list’ is sport and recreation - our leisure; not good for either our physical or mental health.

You can be part of something beautiful, get outdoors (or indoors), get some exercise, be around some lovely people and it does not cost the earth. Have you thought of Archery?

Wymondham Archers is run entirely by volunteers and is going to be ten years old in January 2023. We believe it is a rainbow for the many Archers who are members. It was put together by a cohort of people who gathered around a table in the Green Dragon Pub back in 2012. We have gone from strength to strength since then; reaching out to hundreds of people.

Wymondham Archers is now a huge archery club - outside of Universities we are the fourth largest in the UK. Our demographics are as wide as our reach with people travelling from all over the County, from Great Yarmouth, North Norfolk, South Norfolk, Breckland, Broadland. Some of our Archers travel up from Cambridgeshire simply to shoot at Wymondham Archers. We work hard to encourage everyone into the sport. We are always grateful to Wymondham Rugby Football Club for the use of the space that we share with them, on our permanent outdoor archery range - an unlikely partnership in sport but one that is so very productive.

Our annual Charity Event, this year was once again spent with our efforts to Shoot to the Moon. 70 of our Archers took part in this event raising over £2,000 for Nelson's Journey. It is quite something to be able to launch our arrows as far as we can across the 34 acre site, watching them fly in the knowledge that we are helping kids in Norfolk work through tragic times.

We host one of the biggest archery tournaments in the county with archers attending from far and wide in the UK. Our outdoor tournament this year was a World Record Status event supporting those archers seeking to get recognised on the national stage. Our indoor tournaments that we hold yearly are also very busy and hugely successful.

Our thriving archery club is always looking for new members and we look forward to you signing up. More info and contact details at www.wymondhamarchers.co.uk
