Since moving to Wymondham in 2018, Fiona and Colin have missed their regular wine tastings with other wine enthusiasts and haven’t found a wine group in Wymondham to join. So, we’re setting a new one up, starting on Tuesday 20th September.

Our interest in wine goes back quite a few years and our holidays normally involve visiting a wine region to sample the local produce!  Over the years, we’ve visited Rioja, Bordeaux, Italy and many other wine regions. Now we’re enjoying finding out more about English wine. We have even planted some vines in our garden - the first harvest is due in a few weeks.

Our idea for the Wymondham Wine Group is to meet up once a month and have a themed tasting. Our September theme is ‘Medal Winning Wines’ and we’ll be choosing from sparkling, white and red wines from this year’s Decanter Magazine World Wine Awards. The October theme is Italian wines, November is wines for Christmas and we’d like your ideas for a theme for the December tasting.

Whether you’re a novice taster or have years of experience, we’re sure you’ll have a fun evening trying different types of wines. You don’t need any wine knowledge just an interest in expanding your wine horizons. Colin has an Advanced level qualification from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and Fiona has lots of practical wine tasting experience! At the tastings, we’ll introduce the theme for the evening and taste 6-8 wines.

On an occasional basis we’ll invite speakers from the wine industry to join us and share their knowledge and a glass of wine.

The group is a non-profit making social group. Tastings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at North Wymondham Community Centre, 44 Lime Tree Avenue, Wymondham NR18 0HH

The first Wymondham Wine Group tasting will be on Tuesday 20th September.
