Wymondham Baptist Church continues to be a busy place. On Sunday 4th August, we enjoyed a visit from the St. Mary’s Singers from Hemsby. The church hall was full of people enjoying an afternoon of diverse styles of music. This event was held to raise funds for our Building Project. The St Mary’s Singers will be visiting again on Sunday, 8th December. Tickets are available from Wymondham Baptist Church Office; get your ticket early to avoid disappointment.
The volunteers at Roots Café are taking a well-earned rest from August 14th to August 23rd. The café will reopen on Wednesday, 28th August at 10am.
Our School Uniform Bank has been used by some families in the town. If you want to see if we have some uniform pieces to fit your child, please ring the church office on 01953606520 to arrange to come and have a look at the uniform that we have. All uniforms are in good condition and are free of charge.
We invite you to share our church garden, which is at the side of the church building. The garden is always available during the Café open sessions, but you are welcome to come in and enjoy the space at any time. We have a small area designated to wild flowers, with a bird feeder and water dish for the birds. Share the produce from our raised bed – currently there are chives and oregano, as well as some strawberries (if the birds have left some!).
On Saturday 28th September, we will be holding a Tools With a Mission collection at the church from 10am-1pm. If you have any tools that you no longer need or use, please bring them along. They will be refurbished and shipped out to Africa in tool kits to support communities, to develop skills, and empower trainees to become self-sufficient. As well as supporting families overseas we are diverting these tools from landfill. So bring along the tools that you aren’t using. We accept agricultural tools, builders’ tools, carpenters’ tools, electricians’ tools, motor mechanics’ equipment, plumbers’ tools, garage equipment, power tools, machines for sewing or knitting, haberdashery, and IT equipment (fully working).
On Sunday 29th September, we will be holding Café Church. If you don’t normally go to church but would like to find out more in a relaxed environment, join us at 10:30am for breakfast and share in a different informal service.
As we look towards Christmas, we will be holding our annual Shoebox appeal. If you would like to share in this appeal and fill a shoebox with items for a child in a third world country, please call the church office.
On Saturday 19th October we will be holding a Bible Readathon – this is another fund-raising event. We will be reading six books of the Bible during the day from 6am – 10pm.
We welcome everyone to our church on Sunday morning at 10:30am. and to the Roots Community Café on Wednesday and Friday from 10am- 1pm.
