Wymondham has, for a long time, had a rich musical scene. We’re particularly proud of our young musicians, at a time when arts funding across education is limited. If your child plays an orchestral instrument, then Wymondham Youth Music Society would love to welcome them!

Wymondham Youth Orchestra has been running 34 years. It exists as an outlet for enthusiastic and talented pupils to further their musical education. In 2000 we became Wymondham Youth Music Society. Over the years we have evolved to include a highly successful Junior String Group and a Senior Ensemble.

Chris Jaggard Junior Strings tutor said “we welcome beginners up to Grade 3+ and the present group includes violas and cellos as well as violins”.

WYMS Musical Director Margery Baker added that “the Senior Ensemble (orchestra) has gaps for viola and cello in particular, but any orchestral instrument from Grade 4+ upwards to Grade 8+ can find a place with us”.

All rehearsals and classes take place on Thursday evenings in term time in the Function Room at Wymondham Rugby Club, Bray Drive (off Reeve Way), Wymondham NR18 0GQ. This is at the northern end of the new estate off Norwich Common, Wymondham. It’s well signposted. Perhaps you would like to visit us before making up your mind? If so please do let us know in advance via email on enquiries@wyms.org.uk.

We look forward to welcoming you to our merry group of musicians!

There is the opportunity to come and see the young musicians in action at a concert at Wymondham Central Hall, 7pm on Thursday 1st December. Tickets on the door at £8 for adults and children free. For further details please see www.wyms.org.uk or contact us on enquiries@wyms.org.uk.
