Wymondham Girls Youth Rugby comprises four age groups teams, Under 12's, Under 14's Under 16's and Under 18's and is the fastest growing girls rugby club in the region.
All the girls teams train together at Wymondham Rugby Club twice a week, Thursday evening from 6.00-7.30pm and Sunday morning from 10.00 -11.30am (unless the girls have a match). The Under 16's and Under 18's also spend time training with the Wymondham Wasps ladies team to provide extra support.
Currently Wymondham has a total of 40 girls across all four age groups. The Under 14's girls have enough girls to independently form their own team but all other age groups are required to cluster with other clubs to ensure there are enough girls to play matches safely.
Last season the Under 14's clustered with Lowestoft & Beccles as the combined team known as the “Titans” and the girls won the Eastern Counties Plate against Shelford. The Under 14's Titans also made it to the Cup final vs Norwich Wildcats in April, finishing second place which was a fantastic achievement for the Under 14's!
Some of the girls have attended Leicester Tigers camps this year at venues at Langley School and at home at Wymondham Rugby Club. The girls have enjoyed the camps and always come away buzzing especially after meeting Ben Youngs (Ben plays for Leicester Tigers and England) and some of the girls recently attended a Centurion event at Bury Rugby Club where the girls got to meet and spend time with Rocky Clark, MBE (Rocky is a Saracens player and has earned her 50th cap at the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup playing for England). Spending time with professional players gives the girls inspiration and also an opportunity to learn and grow in their own rugby journey.
Girls rugby is a great team sport where you will make new friends, grow in confidence and find strength in your own ability.
