Logan Howes from Wymondham continues to move forward in his racing efforts. Logan has since moved onto the mini max class moving forward and racing with bigger faster karts.

The season came to a close for Logan as he entered the final big race for the year with the BKC winter cup held at Whilton Mill in Daventry.

Friday practice showed great pace in the morning but as the day went on he was losing time and the kart wasn’t handling as it should. Friday evening we stripped the kart down and put it on the jig to find it was very badly bent and also found cracked welds on the front stub.

We tried our best to fix it but then made the decision to give Logan his Christmas present early which was a new kart.

With that going into Saturday we were straight on the pace matching the front runners. Heat 1 we started p6 and had great battles in the changing weather conditions, finishing p5. Heat 2 we started p14, got caught up in someone else’s accident putting us at the back but fought back to p12 and receiving a 5 second penalty. The final heat we started p9, after 2 laps we were at the front of the pack sitting in p2 chasing down the leader and was soon the back bumper of him.

With just 3 laps to go the tyres started to go off and we were over gripping and started losing time to the karts behind and they caught up. With two laps of hard defending we finished the race p3. You can follow Logan’s progress on his instagram page @loganhowes2011.
