Volunteers

While Wymondham Heritage Museum has closed for the season, the volunteers are losing no time in making it ready for 2023. New displays, existing ones to be refreshed; there’s plenty to occupy them over the coming months.

Would you like to be involved when the museum opens again? Spend time helping in the historic Bridewell among the many displays and artefacts that showcase the town’s past.

Stewards will be needed to greet visitors at reception, take entrance fees, shop sales and answer questions. Present shifts are just three hours a month unless you have time to do more. Training will be given and you will work with an experienced steward to begin with.

Or perhaps you would be more interested in helping in The Bridewell Tearoom. The Tearoom was once the exercise yard for prisoners on remand. Now it’s a cosy place complete with a wishing well for visitors to chill following their visit. The role involves serving visitors with snacks including tea, coffee and homemade cakes and scones.

If you are interested please email saying which role you are interested in to: whm.info@wymondhamheritagemuseum.co.uk message on Facebook or drop a line to Wymondham Heritage Museum, 10 The Bridewell, Norwich Road, Wymondham, NR18 0NS.

Wynterfest Opening

There will be another opportunity to visit the museum this year. It will be open for the town’s Wynterfest on Monday December 4th from 12 to 5pm. Entrance is free and don’t miss the Tearoom, especially if it’s chilly! Hot soup with a roll plus tea or coffee will be available.

And you might find that perfect little present to hang on the tree in the gift shop. Or for history buffs, check out the bookshelf with publications on the rich history of the town and the surrounding area.
