South Norfolk Radio's volunteer team will be bringing you seasonal music and live coverage from Wymondham as families from the town and beyond gather for this year's Wynterfest event on 26th November, organised by Wymondham's Business Group and the Town Team in association with Clear Company CIC.
South Norfolk Radio is an entirely volunteer-operated Community Radio Station, run on a not-for-profit basis. It's based in the centre of Wymondham and has been on air for five years. Programmes are available to hear on-line through the website at snradio.uk, through mobile devices, tablets, laptops and PCs - and on smart speakers too. If you have the internet - then you've got South Norfolk Radio! Many SNR programmes are also available on a 'listen again' basis too.
Radio Station Manager Anthony Woods says "Although South Norfolk Radio has been broadcasting for five years now, we're keen that even more people should get to know about us and so we'll be bringing you live Wynterfest performances direct from the town centre during the day on SNR."
Pop along to the radio station's stand near the Market Cross at Wynterfest and say hello, maybe have a go at the station's on-the-day competition and if you'd like to find out more about becoming a member of the SNR team, or to make a request or dedication, then you can do that in person at Wynterfest too. Sophie Garrod, regular presenter of 'The Sophie Sessions' on Saturday mornings on SNR will be amongst the volunteers co-hosting coverage from Wynterfest. "We're really looking forward to seeing everyone!" says Sophie.
'Wynterfest Live' will be on air on South Norfolk Radio from mid-morning until early evening on November 26th and will be bringing you all the live events as they happen, plus a big selection of seasonal tunes to put everyone in the Wynterfest mood! "We don't usually feature Christmas music heavily on SNR until a couple of weeks or so before the big day" says station manager Anthony, "but of course we're making an exception for Wynterfest!"
Looking ahead to Christmas itself, there'll be special editions of many of the station's regular shows, and #BreakfastBriefing host David Mann will once again be presenting South Norfolk Radio's own local version of 'Junior Choice' at 9am on Christmas morning. It's a real nostalgia-filled show, with many of the old classics of Christmases - and childhoods - long past. "Our own version of 'Junior Choice' is one of the highlights of the year for me" says David. "It's great to get a chance to play some music that just oozes nostalgia for times past, especially at Christmas. Expect Captain Beaky, Ernie the Milkman and Puff the Magic Dragon amongst many others, and not forgetting My Bruvver! We welcome requests, dedications and your own nostalgic Christmas memories for the show too." continues David. "Just drop an email to david@snradio.uk."
For full details of the radio station, including the programme schedule, and an extensive local 'What's On' listing for upcoming events in the area, just check the radio station's website at snradio.uk. That's also the place where you can find details about joining the station - maybe you could help with live events like Wynterfest or even present your own radio show. With technology evolving all the time, SNR can now even offer you the opportunity to present a show from the comfort of your own home! "It's a great opportunity to try something different, and a volunteering role always looks good on the CV, whatever age you are!" says SNR station manager Anthony. "If you're interested, then we'd love to hear from you" he adds.
