Since 2020 Wymondham has been part of the national festival celebrating local independent shopping. The campaign promotes the idea that if every adult in Wymondham spent just £5 a week in independently owned businesses, we would add £3.2 million of additional income to the local economy.

This means more jobs, a vibrant high street, higher house prices, and a great sense of community.

The offers highlight the contribution to the economy and the social support that local shops and businesses bring, but it’s also an opportunity for those businesses to say “Thank you” to their loyal customers who have supported them through the pandemic.

“Fiver Fest happens three times per year,” says Tracy Kenny, Totally Locally organiser for Wymondham. “and it is now a big part of our promotions for Wymondham. The independent shops and businesses, and how we all get to know each other in them, are what makes Wymondham special and unique. The community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown, but it is easy to slip back into old shopping habits now that things are returning to normal. So this is a little nudge to say ‘Our local businesses are still here, we are still serving our community and we appreciate your support. And of course we are great value!'"
