On the 15th of September, Wymondham Photographic Society had our first open competition of the new season, judged by Ben Pike.
Our members presented a great variety of images and a very high standard. In Tier 1, for the less experienced photographers, three people got a maximum score of 20: new member Colin Jack with his black-and-white image of a postbox, Karl Taylor with his seascape shot, and another new member Ian Taylor with his still-life shot of an Echeveria flower. It is always great to see new blood coming through.
In Tier 2, for more experienced photographers, six images got the maximum score of 20. Diane Ashton is coming up with some great stuff after her promotion last year: she got 20 for her lovely portrait of a puffin at Bempton Cliffs. Anthony Cooves got 20 for his two images, one a street shot of a red bike outside some steps against an orange wall, and the other a long-exposure shot of a seascape.
Alex Park also got a 20 for his lovely study of a wild onion plant. And I also got a 20 for two images: one a shot of Michael Dunlop at the Isle of Man’s Southern 100 motorbike race, the other a shot of a tiger in India waking up on the forest floor.
