You may have noticed the Open Gardens posters around town. All we need now is perfect weather and lots of visitors! We are excited to be in the final stages of planning this bi-annual event which will benefit three local charities, Wymondham Heritage Museum, Greening Wymondham and Wymondham Nature Group. In previous years the proceeds have exceeded £8000 so we are hoping to raise even more for such very worthwhile causes.

Dates for your diary are Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June from 1-5pm.

Eighteen Wymondham gardens will be open and this is your chance to take a peek behind the garden gate. With a big variety of garden styles on show there’ll be something for both the experienced gardener and beginners alike - a great way of seeing how varied gardens can be, depending on the site and location, within the limitations of time, space and expertise you have.

For beginners it can be a chance to make early decisions on a new garden design or planting plan. For the more experienced there will be discussions about specific plants and experiences. Most of us fall somewhere in between and enjoy sharing ideas, appreciating beautiful gardens and enjoying the satisfaction of compliments. Open Gardens Weekend can provide inspiration to us all.

Most visitors and participants are not gardening experts but enthusiasts and it’s really not a competition!

Programmes cost £5 per adult (children free) for access to all gardens for the weekend and are on sale now in Wymondham at the Tourist Information Centre, the Heritage Museum, George Reeves, Marmalade Tree also Wymondham Garden Centre who have kindly sponsored printing and advertising.

If you are visiting from outside the town you can buy your programme on the Open Gardens weekend itself. We will have a stall at the Friday Market (17th June), Saturday Farmer's Market (18th) and on the Sunday (19th) at the Market Cross. The gardeners themselves will also have programmes for sale - look out for the yellow balloons. Do buy early if you can.

We look forward to welcoming you and saying a big thank you in advance to all our participating gardeners!
