The Song of Achilles by Madeleine Miller has to be one of my favourite reads by far. As someone who doesn’t read many fantasy novels, this book made me want to read more. Miller spent 10 years writing The Song of Achilles making sure the book was perfect for publishing, and I can certainly say it is one of the most beautiful and complex books I have ever read, from the plot to the vocabulary used to describe each character.

The Song of Achilles is told from the perspective of an exiled prince, Patroclus, and shows how his relationship with his friend Achilles deepens. However a war breaks out and Achilles must fight and Patroclus decides to go with him. This novel took me a bit longer to read than other books, which made it more memorable because most books I begin, I can finish reading them within the same day. Overall, I would recommend The Song of Achilles to any older teen who wants to read an LGBTQIA+ fantasy book.
