February heralds the first signs of Spring – with Aconites, Snowdrops & Crocuses as well as Hellebores & early shrubs all flowering, our gardens stir from their winter slumbers!

Wymondham Garden Club has an exciting programme of talks for anyone interested in Gardening, be they budding beginners or folks who have established gardens. There’s always something new to discover & arouse green fingered interest. All are welcome.

The club programme for 2023 kicked off with a January talk on Botanical Gardens by Jim Paine (of Walnut Tree nursery near Attleborough) discussing plant varieties which will flourish in Wymondham & district soils.

This month we have Rosemary Ward talking about “Plants for a Sunny Garden” and Mediterranean style planting (something we all need to seriously consider as summers’ become hotter).

March sees the return of one of our favourite speakers, Dr Ian Bedford, the subject this time “All you might ever need to know about Slugs”! Don’t be put off, there’s more positives to Slugs than you might expect as Ian will divulge (as well as how to keep the bad ones away!).

In April we have Chris Deakin talking about “Designing & Planting Small Gardens”, ideal timing as the Spring growing season gets underway.

For anyone considering joining, membership of the club is just £18 for 2023. Talks are free to members with refreshments provided. Guests pay £4 per talk.

Wymondham Garden Club events are listed in the Wymondham Magazine & on the Facebook “Wymondham Garden Club” page. Printed programmes are available at club meetings. For further information about the club contact wymondhamgardenclub@gmail.com

Did you know? Google “Botanical gardens in Norfolk” & you’ll be directed to Norfolk, Virginia! The nearest Botanical Garden is in Cambridge; well worth visiting – there are extensive herbaceous areas, greenhouses dedicated to different climates (think desert plants, tropical rainforests etc), an arboretum & much more.
