The season showdown for rugby clubs across Norfolk will be played out at Wymondham on the weekend of 29 - 30th April.

It is the first time the “Big Norfolk Rugby Weekend” festival is coming to Wymondham RFC and the club is ready to host hundreds of players and supporters across the two days. The four men’s senior cup finals are on the Saturday and the women’s and youth finals follow on the Sunday.

“It’s truly a celebration of the strength of the community game here in Norfolk,” said Mark Ballman, president of the Norfolk Rugby Football Union.

Spectators are welcome at Wymondham’s Barnard Fields ground and tickets cost £5 on the Saturday and entry is free on Sunday. There will be full catering, food trucks and bars both days, live music on Saturday from 5pm, and a giant inflatable play area on Sunday.

"We want to make this the best Big Norfolk Rugby Weekend yet - an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the day and celebrate this great county's rugby achievements,” said Liam Browning of Wymondham RFC.

Play starts on Saturday at 11am with two finals - the Outigo Norfolk Salver and the Marett’s Chariots Junior Cup. The R&L Engineering Intermediate Cup follows at 1:30pm and the Woodforde’s Senior Cup kicks off at 3:30pm. The first of Sunday’s QD Youth finals for U14-U16 teams start at 11am, and the McDonald’s Senior Women’s Cup final rounds off the festival at 2:30pm.

John MacKay, president of Wymondham RFC, said: “Norfolk has a great rugby community and this is an opportunity for us all to get together to enjoy some fantastic sport, meet new friends and old rivals and celebrate just what makes rugby such fun!”
